Introducing Gisma University’s New Women in Tech Scholarship
Gisma University of Applied Sciences is proud to announce the launch of its Women in Tech Scholarship, a new initiative aimed at empowering and supporting exceptional women aspiring to lead in the tech industry. Each year, Gisma will award four 100% scholarships and twelve 50% scholarships to women pursuing the MSc in Data Science, AI and Digital Business, or the MEng Computer Science programmes.
This scholarship represents Gisma’s commitment to fostering gender diversity in STEM fields, where female representation remains disproportionately low. According to recent data, only 26.7% of technology jobs were held by women in 2023. The Women in Tech Scholarship seeks to address this gap by offering financial support and equipping women with the knowledge and skills necessary to thrive in the tech industry.
The selection process will include interviews conducted by two of Gisma’s distinguished female professors: Prof. Dr. Renata Thiebaut and Prof. Dr. Sara Ramzani.
Prof. Dr. Renata Thiebaut, recipient of the Women Leadership Awards from the International Professional Women Society and mentor for women-led startups through the United Nations (UNFPA) in the Middle East, shared her enthusiasm for the initiative:
“As a proud supporter of the Women in Tech Scholarship, I believe this initiative is critical in boosting the participation of women in the tech industry, where their representation remains significantly low. This scholarship empowers women to pursue their dreams, helping them to overcome unique challenges such as limited access to mentorship, bias, and a lack of representation in leadership roles.”
Prof. Dr. Sara Ramzani also expressed her thoughts on the scholarship:
“This is more than a scholarship; it’s a movement for lasting impact. The Women in Tech Scholarship by Gisma University of Applied Sciences empowers exceptional women to lead in the tech industry, providing financial support for those pursuing master’s programmes in Data Science, AI, and Computer Science. By fostering gender diversity in STEM, we aim to break barriers, support innovation, and contribute to a more inclusive and sustainable tech future. This opportunity can transform your career and help you shape the future of technology.”
With each intake, Gisma will offer one full scholarship and three partial scholarships per programme. By investing in the potential of women in tech, Gisma aims to contribute to building a sustainable, diverse, and inclusive digital future.
