Live Business Cases: Our students advising start-ups and well-established company

GISMA Business School students from the  Grenoble MSc in Innovation, Strategy and Entrepreneurship programme recently completed a six-month consulting project called “Live Business Case”. They delivered their final presentation in front of the jury consisting of academics and clients at our Berlin Campus. The format of ‘Live Business Cases’ combined students’ academic journey with real-life professional experience. Five groups of students advised both start-ups and well-established companies on how to foster the growth of their organizations, as well as create value through innovation. The students worked on their consulting projects hand in hand with the companies’ clients, providing them with the latest skills and techniques.

One group of students was put in charge of providing a company called  kaputt.de with recommendations in regards to its future expansion strategy in Europe. The company offers repair services to prolong the lifespan of electronic devices, for example mobile phones or coffee machines. The CEO of kaputt.de Tobias Kronawitter was very impressed with the results and looks forward to quickly implementing the recommendations in his company.

“The GISMA students gained a deep understanding of the foreign markets mechanics and provided invaluable insights – it was a great experience to hear their opinions. A sincere thanks to the students.“Tobias KronawitterCEO kaputt.de

For a start-up called Hackmind, the students had to create a marketing plan which focused specifically on strategy and implementation. This proved to be quite challenging, as the students started their consulting case just two weeks after the company was founded. During this project, our students had the chance to work closely with Julien Fredonie and Leonardo da Silveira, Silicon Valley entrepreneur and co-founder of  Couchsurfing.

Working with the students was an exciting experience as we learnt from them as much as we hope they learnt from us, they brought their enthusiasm, ideas, skills and already structured approach to our project. We will implement some of the recommendations and we will use the materials they produced to keep on improving the Hackmind candidate experience. Thank you for the good work and all the best for your next steps.Julien Fredonie

Berlin Innovation Venture (BIV) assigned a consulting project to an international team of four students from Mexico, China and France. BIV consists of deep tech experts and entrepreneurs who invest into early stage deep tech ventures around Europe with the aim of producing the next generation tech-first start-up ventures. Working with BIV allowed the students to take a dive into the world of venture capital.
